DAY 1 ACTION PLAN
Three focused priorities. One goal: a Georgina that works for the people who live here.
TARGET 0% PROPERTY TAX INCREASE FOR 2027
Residents are stretched thin. On DAY 1, I will submit a Notice of Motion for the Mayor to direct all staff to prepare a 2027 budget with a target of 0% property tax increase. This will be achieved through smarter, more efficient operations and real revenue growth, while maintaining current staffing and service levels.
Modernize the Building Department
While the Building Department is currently conducting an internal review, this review must include addressing faster permitting, benchmarking to similar municipalities, and consultation with past and present clients. I will submit a Notice of Motion that will assist in addressing the many concerns of our community and contractors/developers through the review process. Faster permits mean jobs, homes, and stronger revenues. I want to make Georgina the premier municipality for building in the Region and the Province.
Activate the Keswick Business Park
Understanding that the Town is actively working with current developers and property owners of the Business Park, I will submit a Notice of Motion requesting an up to date report of the progress of the Park including any known building timelines. This report is to be completed in coordination with the Building Department to address any barriers the Park may be experiencing and to maximize early wins in support of the 0% property tax increase objective. This Report is to be promoted to all residents so that they have an understanding of the current and future status of the Park.
