MEET STEPHEN

Stephen, owner of We Print T-Shirts and his daughter Amelia have been residents of Ward 2 for more than 20 years and have been great supporters of local business as well as community groups such as Jericho Youth Services, Georgina Cares, the Military Museum and more! Provincially Stephen has been involved extensively with the Canadian Red Cross and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

• Cross Canada Cancer Awareness Bike Trek (1998)Organized and led a three month coast to coast bicycle ride, meeting dignitaries and celebrities along the way. Was told by fundraising professionals this trek could not be done on a budget less than $20,000.  With a budget of $12,000 my team and I completed this event with every expense paid and and a surplus of $1,100 which was donated to Southlake Hospital. This national event was endorsed by the Town of Georgina, members of the Down Child Blues Band and the Barenaked Ladies.
• Ball Fees By-law Review (Manager of Recreation, Town of Georgina) Chaired the full review and negotiated a new fee structure that every local ball organization unanimously supported. Council approved it unanimously and publicly recognized the unprecedented cooperation among all groups.
• Aquatic Staffing & School Swim Initiative (Manager of Aquatics, Town of Georgina)Created a leadership program that certified 21 Georgina residents as lifeguards and swimming instructors in a single course for FREE.   This gave the Georgina Leisure Pool the largest daytime aquatic staff of any single facility in Ontario. This initiative also provided the opportunity for the GLP to partner with York Region on their pilot Swim To Survive program: every Georgina school participated but taught the Red Cross School Swim program and 1,734 children learned to swim (nearly half of the entire York Region total that year).
• Heart and Stroke Foundation — Heart Action CommitteeServed on the provincial committee guiding major fundraising events including Polo for Heart, Jump Rope for Heart, Ride for Heart, and The Big Bike. Worked directly with Committee Chair R.J. Falconi and President Rick Gallup to strengthen province wide initiatives supporting heart and stroke research.
• Ontario Red Cross — Injury Prevention Advisory Committee (Chair, 4 years)Provided oversight for the Red Cross Swim Program and First Aid Program across Ontario. Helped elevate the First Aid Program to one of the premier training programs in the province.
• Bronto Marketing Group — Partner & DirectorPartner and Director of an international marketing company, responsible for new business development, marketing, and logistics for the company's sole product, Measure-It! Adhesive Measuring Tape. Secured placement with major North American retailers by working directly with key executives at True Value Hardware (US), Amazon (US), ACE Hardware (US), Orgill (US), and Home Hardware. Partnered with international distributor IPG (US) to expand distribution into additional national chains including Home Depot, Lowe's, Do-It-Best, Menards, and Canadian Tire.
